Four O’Clock Alba

ABOUT The four o’clock alba is a beautiful perennial flowering plant that unfolds at night beginning around 4 pm and remains open through much of the evening.  It is a bushy plant with a light citrus scent and star-shaped petals that come in a variety of colors. This flowering plant can be put in full sun and needs moderate water in well-draining soil.

DESIGN The alba can be used as a potted plant or placed in the ground as it works well in both. Hummingbirds are known to be attracted to the flower as it opens in the evening.

CAUTION This plant is considered toxic to humans and pets. Symptoms of poisoning can include spontaneous abortion, abdominal cramps, vomiting, diarrhea, rash or irritation, redness around the mouth, and hallucinations.
